Rev. Fr. David Margaryan

Parish Priest of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral of Montreal
Rev. Father David Margaryan, baptized Armen, was born in Etchmiadzin, Armenia, on April 2, 1977.
Between 1984 and 1992, he attended Etchmiadzin’s No.1 pre-primary school, after which he continued his education in Armenian Diocese of Shirak, until 1995. In parallel with his holy studies, Father David
received his high school diploma.
At age 18, he was admitted into Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin’s Gevorkian Theological Seminary. After 6 years of hard work, he was appointed as a deacon.
Afterwards, he served at the Armenian Diocese of Germany.
He continued his career in Armenian Apostolic Church Sourp Sahag, France, where he took care of men’s and women’s choir. Moreover, he prepared four acolytes to become deacons.
Between 2005 and 2016, Rev. David moved to Genève, Switzerland. He worked as a priest’s assistant and ceremony supervisor in Sourp Hagop Church.
In 2013 he was nominated as a deacon at St. Hagop, Lion, France, by the late His Eminence Archbishop David Sahakyan.
In April 2016, he received an invitation from His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II, the Catholicos of all Armenians, to an intensive training cycle in Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
In October 23, 2016, on the feast of Holy Cross he has ordained as a priest by His Grace Bishop Hovnan Hakobyan.
From December 2016 to July 1, 2018 – he had served for Charvieu and Romans-sur-Isère Parishes, meanwhile serving as a visitor priest for Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church of Marseille.
In July 10, 2018, he has appointed as a Parish Priest of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral of Montreal by His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada.
Our Parish Priest is married and has three daughters.
